[guide] Logo with shadow

Hello
to make a cool looking logo with shadow casting,
follow those steps with adaptetion to your image editor app,

1. we make new file, give it size and white background layer.

2. create new layer, name it logo.

3. with text tool create your logo name, with color black.

4. duplicate the logo layer 2 times, name one layer "shadow",
and the next layer name "highlights", drag the shadow layer under the
logo layer.

5. click to select the shadow layer, turn the layer opacity to 35%,
then apply blur effect with about 4px radius.

6. select the "highlights" layer, with the selection tool
select the bottom half of the logo and delete it, use invert command
to make the layer white, set the layer opacity to about 50%.

The easy way is to use layer effects as shadow and specular.
the steps are only for the work logic, the technics depands on the tools.

good morning vasile :)
yes shapes are great to combine with logo type,
the logic is the same,
the parameters changes as the design needs,
i do belive that gimp is very similar to how photoshop works
so it should be easy to apply the logic :)

congretz for the OSX, awesome System,
i have used mac for 12 years hehe.

awesome day my friend

Thank you Moshe!
Now I have something to start with.
I suppose is the same as with shapes...

Thanks for the link.

I will try with this:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=create+a+logo+with+gimp&search_type=&aq=4&oq=create+a+l as I don't have access to Photoshop (I switched to Mac OS X from Ubuntu linux for Mac to see flash animations :P )
